Wheelchair transport
People who use wheelchairs may need wheelchair transportation, as it is designed to accommodate such equipment. These types of vehicles have lifts to get the wheelchair in and out.
Many non-emergency medical transport companies also provide wheelchairs to be rented, if patients need them. Drivers of this service are usually trained to provide CPR and other basic medical assistance.
Stretcher medical transport
It is typical for bedridden transports that can no longer sit upright to require regular transportation. These patients need regular checkups the most, so they will require medical transportation – the non-emergency medical transport providers will also provide the stretcher.
In this service, NEMPT drivers usually have a partner to help get the patient and stretch on and off the medical van.
Courier service
Non-emergency medical transport companies commonly provide medical courier transportation services. These are for the transportation of human blood, organs and other from one medical facility to another.
All drivers involved in medical courier work must adhere to the strictest standards set by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
