As we head into the festive season and with another year upon us, we wanted to look back at 2021, a year full of firsts and highlights for both the Wise team and our fantastic clients.
Thank you to our clients
2021 has been a tough year for our clients. We’ve been privileged to meet hundreds of logistics and courier businesses this year, all of which have worked tirelessly through lockdowns to keep the supply chain flowing.
By introducing the Wise system, we hope we’ve saved our clients some valuable time and money. We’re immensely proud to support 250 UK logistics firms, and in 2021 over 50,000 subcontractors used our technology – more to come in 2022!
We want to thank our clients for doing a fantastic job from the whole Wise team. We plan to add lots of new products & services next year to help further.
The Big Launch
In May, we were delighted to launch the first Wise branded version of our technology to our clients. Getting the system and app launched took a monumental effort from the whole company, and the reviews from clients have been great!
The team was able to pull together (mainly through Zoom at first!) to create a digital offering that is genuinely improving the self-employment sector.
Growing the Wise Family
We’ve welcomed 28 new talented people to the Wise family in 2021!
We’re privileged to have been able to bring in these incredibly talented and passionate team members across all areas of the business, including payments, compliance, product, development, sales and marketing.
A New Home
As you might expect, we needed somewhere for us all to call home as we grew the team! After months of tours and inspections at potential new offices, we moved into our fabulous new HQ at Radcliffe House in Solihull in September.
It’s safe to say that the new space has been a hit with the team, and we’ve settled in exceptionally well as we continue to put the Wise stamp on the offices – check out all the purple!
Kicking off new partnerships
We’re passionate about giving back to our local community in any way we can. So, when the opportunity arose to get involved with Solihull Moors Football Club, we jumped at the chance.
We unveiled the new commercial partnership with Solihull Moors Football Club in August, with the Wise logo featuring on the sleeve of both the Men’s and Women’s kits for the 2021/22 season.
We’ve loved getting behind the club this year and are excited to see what they can achieve through the rest of this season!
Following this, we also welcomed Inflexion to the Wise team as we look to grow into new industries and further increase our competency at delivering best-in-class products and services.
Culture and Awards
A key focus for the senior team was maintaining the Wise culture of compassion and inclusivity. So this summer, we partnered with a leading UK workplace assessor, Great Places To Work™.
We were officially named an outstanding employer in September, with full Great Place To Work™ accreditation following an extensive staff satisfaction survey. This award is a testament to this culture that we’re committed to retaining as we continue to grow the Wise team. Following this, as part of our diversity and inclusion scheme, we’ve signed up to the Tech Talent Charter and achieved a bronze award within the Armed Forces Covenant scheme from the Ministry of Defence.
Finally, to round off the year, we headed to the ICC in Birmingham for the 2021 West Midlands Tech Awards at the end of November. This was an excellent chance to meet and hear from the very cutting-edge of our sector at a fun event. We were over the moon to collect the Digital Startup Of The Year Award!
Looking Forward to 2022
With 2022 firmly on the horizon, we’re continuing to do everything we can to achieve our mission of improving self-employment. We’ll be growing the team further, enhancing and adding to our products and services and hopefully welcoming a few new clients.
