This time one year ago, we were just embarking on our new adventure as we moved into our new headquarters right in the heart of Solihull.
In just one year, we have achieved so much and made some fantastic memories. So, we thought we should reminisce and create a ‘Wise Timeline’ to look back on all the great memories we’ve had making this place our home. Let’s start by going right back to September 15th 2021…
Wise Timeline
15th September 2021 – Move in day – On the first day of our new adventure, on arrival, the team were greeted by their brand new offices, alongside Wise-themed cupcakes and a great big ribbon (purple, of course!) which was cut to mark the occasion!
8th October 2021 – Wise Charity Bake off – Two months into life at our new home, we held our first Charity Bake Off, which becoming an eagerly anticipated annual event! We had some fantastic entries, but our Junior Software Engineer, Carl, was named star baker. Together, the team raised raising over £100 for Breast Cancer UK.
19th November 2021 – Wise on Wheels – Supporting our local community is something we have always been passionate about, and so the next challenge the Wise Team took on was a ten-hour bike-a-thon, raising £208 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
21st December 2021 – In the spirit of the season of giving, we ended the year collecting food and donating a cash collection to our local foodbank, Essential Deliveries, in Olton.
1st February 2022 – Princes Trust Steps Challenge – To kick off the new year we entered into another challenge, taking part in the Princes Trust Future Steps campaign. For this, the business split up into teams, and each team member was challenged to walk 10,000 steps per day for the whole of February, raising money for vulnerable young people. At Wise, we’re not scared of a challenge, so we added our own twist by trying to exceed 10,000 steps as much as possible, and the business managed a total of 8,774,890 steps walked!
4th March 2022 – As you may have noticed, we can be quite a competitive bunch, and this went to a new level in March, where two of our team members took it upon themselves to see who could end the month with the most amount of total steps, with a forfeit for the loser. Sadly, there could be only one winner, and our Technical Lead Angelo ended up having to sing Backstreet Boys, ‘I Want It That Way’ as his forfeit… We have to congratulate both Angelo & Bryan for their efforts!
5th June 2022 – As proud sponsors of Solihull Moors Football Club, we spent a lot of last seasons cheering on the Men’s and Women’s teams, with this all coming to a head as the men’s side reached the National League Playoffs in May and June. For the final, a few of our team made the long trip down to The London Stadium to cheer on The Moors as they took on Grimsby Town for a place in The Football League. Sadly, the team just missed out, but they had an incredible season, and we’re delighted to continue to sponsor the club to this day.
July 2022 – We actively encourage a bit of fun in our office, and the pool table is always a go-to throughout the week. Throughout the summer, we hosted our first Wise Pool Tournament and after a tense few weeks and an even tenser final, our CTO, James, was declared this years winner. He can now often be seen strutting through the office with his Winners Belt on display…
August 2022 – We hosted our inaugural Wise Golf Day at the 18-hole PGA National Course at The Belfry in Birmingham. It was a great day filled with glorious sunshine, meeting clients and some fantastic golf played in baking conditions!
September 2022 – We’re always keen to support our staff in their lives outside of the office and so along these lines, Wise stepped in to sponsor Vibez Football Club, a local Sunday League Football team being run by Bryan, our Junior Product Coordinator. These kits look amazing!
Throughout the last 12 months, we’ve made some great memories, achieved fantastic business milestones and almost doubled our headcount! We can’t wait to see where we will be this time next year.
