Anthony Tabone – Lead DevOps Engineer
What is your role at Wise?
I am the Lead DevOps Engineer here at Wise, and my job is to build, maintain, secure, and scale the cloud infrastructure that runs all of our services.
What does your day-to-day work look like?
My day-to-day work involves monitoring our internal systems to ensure everything is working correctly, as well as planning and building out any new infrastructure to support the new services being developed by our engineers. I also support our engineers with deploying to our infrastructure and answering other infrastructure-related questions.
What’s the culture like at Wise?
The culture here at Wise is absolutely great. Every team member is so friendly and supportive, which genuinely makes it such an amazing environment to work in. There are frequent socials where we all get to socialise outside of work, and there’s always a nice atmosphere in the office where you’re guaranteed to have a laugh.
What’s special about working at Wise?
Easily the people and the culture, you actually feel like you’re part of a team, and you also feel valued for the work you do. You can tell that the company cares about you and that they are willing to support you in any way that they can. It’s also such a pleasure to work with and talk with the other members of the team.

How have you grown professionally since working at Wise?
As I’m responsible for the cloud infrastructure, I need to help out all of our engineers by learning about how our systems work and how they can deploy their services to it. A big part of it, as well, is ensuring everything is as secure as possible due to the type of work that we do. The combination of these factors has changed how I approach my work and has made me more transparent in regard to the work I’m doing so I can pass on that knowledge to other team members. There have also been a few interesting technical challenges that I’ve had to overcome, which have helped me improve my skills as an engineer.
What’s your favourite memory since working at Wise
Watching one of our lead engineers attempt to sing “I want it that way” by the Backstreet Boys because they lost a friendly bet to do with a company-wide walking challenge.
