Our annual tradition of the Great Wise Bake Off was back in full swing this Thursday. This year, our raised funds were donated to Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Acorns Children’s Hospice is a charity that works tirelessly to support children of all ages with specialist palliative care. Thanks to donations, fundraisers, and volunteers, they’re able to create lasting memories for families with children who have life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, while also providing essential therapeutic, psychosocial, emergency, end-of-life, and bereavement support.
That’s why, on Thursday 13th November, our fired-up team of passionate bakers arrived at the office armed with an incredible spread of homemade treats and desserts. This year’s Great Wise Bake Off might have delivered our most diverse line-up yet: from honey and raspberry cake and chocolate cornflake brownies to lavender cupcakes and even a sweetcorn cake. Bold moves all round.
We also shook things up this year by retiring the legendary council of Dans and introducing our very first four-man council of Davids: David Avila Garcia, David Ingram, David Morgan, and David Nestoruk.
Together, they crowned winners across the following categories:
- Best taste – Useama Said, for a wonderfully rich Lotus Biscoff cheesecake.
- Best technical skills – Alexandra Ruskovski, with ‘Beans on Toast’, a fresh tiramisu topped with peaches.
- Best appearance – Anastasiia Demchuk, for a light and lovely honey and raspberry cake.
And finally, our star baker for this year’s Great Wise Bake Off was Anastasiia Demchuk, officially bringing an end to Carl McIntosh’s impressive 3-year win streak!
As always, it was a brilliant opportunity for the whole Wise team to come together, have a laugh, enjoy some incredible desserts, and raise money for an amazing cause.
